British Columbia will allow adults to consume cannabis in private residences, as well as public spaces where tobacco smoking and vaping are permitted. However, these activities will be banned in areas frequented by children.
The Manitoba government will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but will restrict it in public spaces, such as parks, bars, restaurant patios, and beaches. There will also be a ban on smoking or vapourizing cannabis in all outdoor public places.
The New Brunswick government will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but such activities will be banned from public spaces. Adults will also have to store cannabis in a locked container or room in their home to protect children from accessing it.
Newfoundland and Labrador will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but will restrict it in public spaces and vehicles.
The government of the Northwest Territories will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but will restrict it in certain public spaces so as to protect others from second-hand smoke.
Nova Scotia will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but will restrict in any indoor public place, workplace, and in many outdoor spaces, such as school yards, daycare grounds, and bar and restaurant patios.
The Nunavut government will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of private residences, as well as in some public spaces where tobacco is allowed. However, it will be prohibited to do so on school grounds, hospital grounds, playgrounds, and in vehicles.
The government of Prince Edward Island will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence. The province is currently deciding whether or not it will permit cannabis consumption in designated public spaces.
Quebec will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but outlines restrictions in public spaces, such as parks, bus shelters, and no-smoking zones.
The government of Saskatchewan will allow adults to consume cannabis in the comfort of a private residence, but will restrict it in public spaces, as well as at schools and daycares.
